So I thought I'd write this thread because I've been using these past few weeks to practice a lot of different fights, with the wide variation of fights in Throne of Thunder, it's required many different play styles, including a use for Crimson Tempest o: o:.
In this thread I won't be going over the basic rotations for rogues, just things that you will have to do differently for each particular boss.
I will be updating this thread/making a new one for the SoO fights, when I have sufficient experience/research on the fight and have played around with them all.
These are of course the heroic versions of the encounters
Jin'rokh the Breaker
Lethal Poison: Deadly Poison
Utility Poison: whatever you want, it actually doesn't matter in the slightest as none of them will do anything
Ok so this boss is super slack mode as a rogue, you begin the boss normally and hope your procs don't come up, because as soon as the pool comes and lust is popped, you're going HAM. The best time to pop cooldowns is when you have 5 stacks of renataki's soul charm and hopefully as many other procs as possible. But obviously this can not always happen, just make sure you make as much use as possible of your vendetta so none of the damage increase is wasted. Ionisation is completely avoidable as a rogue, you simply use Cloak of Shadows 2 seconds before the Ionisation is cast, this will completely immune the cast of the spell, thus avoiding having to move out of the pool and getting dispelled and losing dps. Bare in mind that if you use Cloak of Shadows when you have the ionisation debuff, it counts as being dispelled and the damage will be dealt to people in range, and if you are in the pool, you will oneshot the raid. If you prepot before the pull (which you always should) then you should be able to pot again right after the ionisation, and in an ideal world all your procs will line up at this point and your dps will rocket. Once the lighting storm phase comes in and your puny raid has to stack and dodge lightning balls etc. you laugh at them, keep feint up (make sure you talent feint for this fight) and continue with your usual rotation, while dodging lightning balls as best you can. Unless you fuck up and get hit by a lot of lightning balls at once, or you just don't get healed, you really can't die. Make sure in the pool that the boss is turned slightly so you can actually get behind the boss (which you should always do on every encounter where possible). Once the lightning storm is over the boss is rinse and repeat.
Jin'rokh the Breaker is a rogue friendly fight, so have fun!
Horridon
Lethal Poison: Deadly Poison
Utility Poison: Crippling Poison
Dps on Horridon is vastly dependant on how well your tanks position the adds, bad tanking = bad dps. Good tanking makes for good dps on this fight, the way I play Horridon mixes with a bit of what the raid leader wants you to do, and a bit of dps whoring, but overall this increases your dps on the adds, as much as your raid leader says get on the fucking adds, don't listen to him, and tell him to look at the dps meters. I'm going to do this fight part by part.
Bare in mind here that the boss has a relatively large hit box, which makes the tactic I use slightly easier, but still highly dependant on tanks.
Part 1 - Boss Pull: At the start of this fight, you begin like you'd begin any boss, where some players might choose to save their cooldowns, I do not, blow all your cooldowns here and nuke the shit out of Horridon, your cooldowns will be back up for the next important part.
Part 2 - First Gate: So on the first gate all you want to do really is continue targeting the boss, you do your basic single target rotation, but when there are 3 or more mobs (including the boss) in range of your fan of knives, you replace mutilate/dispatch with fan of knives. When the first wastewalker spawns, you want to switch to it, get a rupture on it(2+ combo points will be enough) and then move back to the boss, hopefully (as this depends on add placement for which you rely on tanks) continuing to use fan of knives as your combo point builder. When the 2 wastewalkers spawn, hopefully the first one is dead, if not refresh rupture on it, and then continue to get 3+ combo point ruptures on all 3 wastewalkers, once this is done the dinomancer has probably spawned, so get a rupture on that too, wait until the first cast of Dino Mending goes off, interrupt it, and move back to the boss. Let Rohasj pick up the orb because monks OP, and continue to dps the boss. Remember you can Cloak of Shadows the debuff that the wastewalkers cast, so feel free to use it, because it saves a dispell from the healers. When the boss crashes into the door, you want to continue your single target rotation on the boss, and follow it to the second gate, while avoiding sand traps/charges/double swipe.
Part 3 - Second Gate: At this point (depending on your raids dps on the adds) your 2 minute cools (Vendetta and Blood fury for me) should be off and you should use these and dps the boss, using fan of knives if 3 or more mobs are in range, and wait for the second set of venom priests to spawn (the first one should easily be handled by the raid, if raid is slacking then just switch to it and kill it fast) if you have been assigned to a venom priest you want to make sure you atleast keep this one on your focus, and be ready to interrupt as soon as the cast appears, you do the same as the first gate in the sense that you want to get ruptures up on all the larger adds, then switch back to the boss. Remember if interrupts are missed then you can cloak your debuffs to help out your healers. When the orb drops and Rohasj picks it up because monks OP, you simply follow the boss to the gate again, and continue to dps as normal, following the boss to the next gate. During this gate, your Shadow Blades will have come off cooldown, I like to save this for the next gate.
Part 4 - Third Gate: At this gate you have 2 options, you can use your cooldowns on the boss if your raids dps is high on the adds, and switch to the Frozen warlords to get 4-5 point ruptures on each one only when all 3 are alive, when there is only one alive completely ignore it. However you can also save your cooldowns until all 3 Frozen warlords are alive, and then pop all cooldowns (making sure the boss is targeted for vendetta) extremely quickly get 5 point ruptures up on all 3 Frozen warlords, spamming knives for combo points of course, then switch back to the boss, hopefully in range to use fan as a combo point builder. Whichever tactic to use, make sure to use fan when 3 or more mobs are in range, and avoid the frozen orbs on the ground, especially when rupturing the Frozen warlords as they can be difficult to spot when they are underneath everything. When the Dinomancer spawns switch to it, get a 2+ point rupture on it, and switch back to boss, let Rohasj pick up the orb because monks OP, and follow the boss to the door when he smashes into it. Then follow the boss to the next gate.
Part 5 - Fourth Gate: On this gate you should not use any cooldowns, as you should be saving them for the final burn phase. This gate is very annoying because of the curse and slackiness of decursers, bare in mind that even auto attacking can cause damage to you when you have the debuff, so make sure you completely stop attacking when you have the debuff. On this gate you need to make sure someone is regularly interrupting the flame casters, if they are not, you should do it. Besides that you target the boss until the 2nd and 3rd bear spawns, making sure you use fan when 3 or more mobs are in range. When these bears spawn, switch to them, get 4-5 point ruptures on each one and then switch back to the boss, when a bear dies a beast master will spawn, get a 4-5 point rupture up on that too and continue on the boss, making sure that flame casters are interrupted. After these adds are all down make your way to the designated stack point and prepare for Jalak.
Part 6 - Jalak and burn phase:
During this phase you may get a direhorn spirit depending on your raid's dps and RNG, so bare that in mind and prepare to spam throw at it to keep you from getting one shotted.
So you are continuing your single target rotation until Jalak spawns, at which point lust is popped and you switch to it instantly and dps it down, if your raids burst dps is high enough you will not need to pop cooldowns on Jalak, if you do you will lose a lot of the time on your Vendetta. Make sure that you use smoke bomb at some point while jalak is up, particularly when the Dire call and Bestial cry are within a short amount of time of eachother.
Once Jalak goes down you switch back to the boss, wait for procs and pop your cooldowns and your second potion (assuming you pre-potted).
Make sure to feint if you are taking or about to take heavy damage to prevent you from dying, and making the healers life easier, don't spam feint as this is unnecessary and a dps loss.
This tactic proves effective boss and add dps, and scales very well with how much mastery you have.
