This boss reminds me off that boss from spyro, don't know if anyone else knows what I'm on about.
This fight is an intense static 2 phase encounter which leaves little space for lack of focus. This fight is essentially a positioning and awareness fight, however it does have a rather short enrage timer of only 6 minutes.
There is no specific time to use Bloodlust, so it can just be used at the beginning of the encounter when everyone has all their cooldowns available.
Phase 1:
During phase 1, the bosses rage bar rises to 100, at which point phase 2 begins, phase 1 lasts exactly 2 minutes.
During phase 1 the major ability to contend with is called Ancient Miasma, this negates all healing done by 100%, and instead creates a shield equal to the healing negated, up to 100% of the players HP. This means that should you lose any hp, it cannot be restored while Ancient miasma is active. Ancient miasma also deals a moderate amount of shadow damage to all players every 2 seconds. This mechanic means that it is recommended that you are stacked up at the start of the encounter for some burst aoe healing to get a decent amount of shield up, and then quickly spread out around the platform in order to deal with the several boss abilities.
Fatal strike is a stacking debuff that Malkorok applies to his current target, it increases damage taken by 10% per stack, this ability requires a tank switch.
Seismic slam deals a massive amount of physical damage to a random raid member and throws them up in the air, this also happens to anyone within 5 yards, requiring the raid to be spread 5 yards, this ability is used roughly every 15 seconds.
Arcing Smash is a series of three frontal cone attacks cast in random segments of the platform, about 15 seconds apart, this attack deals a massive amount of physical damage.
Breath of Y'shaarj will be used 10 seconds after the last Arcing Smash, and deals a fatal amount of shadow damage to anyone standing in the areas that were previously affected by the 3 Arcing Smashes.
Imploding energy is an ability that Malkorok uses roughly every 15 seconds, it creates 7 void zones on the ground, 4 seconds after appearing each one will deal a very high amount of shadow damage to the entire raid, however if there is atleast one person in the zone, it will only deal damage to anyone in the zone. This means that once these spawn players will have to quickly coordinate themselves to ensure that there is one person (preferably not more) in each void zone, if there is a confusion and 2 people are in the same void zone, both stay in, (better both of you take damage than everyone). Using any kind of damage reduction will help, rogues being particularly strong at this task of course.
Phase 2:
This phase only lasts 20 seconds, but is very intense for healing and requires that wonderful thing, individual responsibility!
During this phase the Ancient Miasma is no longer in affect, meaning players can be healed for any health they lost during phase 1.
During this phase the boss no longer uses any abilities from phase 1, and has 2 abilities.
Blood Rage causes each one of the bosses melee attacks to do an extremely high amount of physical damage, split among all players in front of him, this means that your raid will have to immediately stack in front of the boss, to avoid many raid members being oneshot. Multiple raid cooldowns at a time should definitely be used here, however do not use all of them, as you will have to deal with this phase again in 2 minutes.
Some players will receive the debuff Displaced Energy, this deals shadow damage every 3 seconds for 9 seconds, once the debuff expires or is dispelled, it deals a massive amount of raid damage to all players within 8 yards, the player with the debuff does not take this damage. This means that if you receive this you should leave the raid, get dispelled or allow the debuff to run out, and move back in.
Once this phase ends, the fight begins again, however the boss will deal 25% additional damage for the remainder of the fight, this effect stacks.
This fight is relatively simple, however is fast paced and intense.
I have linked a couple of videos below.
