Sha fights, blizzard must love them, got two in a row incomming.
In this encounter you will help Norushen defeat the actual boss in this encounter: Amalgam of Corruption. This is going to be a two-realm fight, like Gara-Jal the spiritbinder.
The encounter takes place in two different realms:
- a Normal Realm, where you will face the Amalgam of Corruption, and where the vast majority of the fight takes place.
- a Test Realm, where each raid member must go, briefly, once per fight.
The other key mechanic in this fight is the boss's corruption level, which starts at 75/100 when the fight starts. This corruption level limits the damage you can do to the Amalgam of Corruption, reduces healing done and increases damage received by all attacks. Getting rid of this corruption can be done by entering the Test Realm.
Overview of mechanics
Because this fight consists of fighting in two different realms with each it's own tactics, we will discuss the mechanics of both realms seperately. First off we will start with the Test Realm mechanics and then the Normal Realm mechanics.
The Test Realm mechanics
To enter the Test Realm, players need to interact with an orb which spawns at several set locations in the boss room. note: players enter a realm alone
Clicking this orb will make the orb disappear in the boss room and teleport the player to it's own realm where he needs to complete a challenge based on the player's role. These test's consist of a DPS, Healer and Tank test. Completing the healer and tank test will make all your corruption go away while the dps test will get rid of a certain amount of corruption per add that you kill. Getting rid of the corruption is a key element in the fight, but each test takes alot of time. Next to that the amount of players who can do the test is limited by the amount of orbs that spawn in the room. Some players might not enter the realm at all during this encounter, choosing the players that will enter the realm is goign to be key to downing this boss.
We will now discuss the different tests
Test of serenity (DPS)
DPS will face off against two types of adds, killling these adds will drop an orb which can be picked up by moving over it.
Manifestation of Corruption
This is a single big add which does front aoe damage which can easly be avoide by stepping out of shadow cone in front of the add.
Killing this add will reduce your corruption level by 40 but it will also spawn an Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption in the Normal Realm
Essences of Corruption
Unlike the big add, these adds are stationary and will cast Sha Bolts on regular intervals. These bolts travel pretty fast but need to be avoided.
The amount of Essences that spawn depends on how much corruption you have before you enter the test. When you enter with 75 corruption , there will be a total of 3 Essences
Killing an Essence of Corruption will reduce your corruption level by 15 and it will also spawn an Essence of Corruption in the Normal Realm
Test of Reliance (Healer)
The healer Test Realm contains a hostile mob called Greater Corruption, and three friendly mobs that attack it.
The healer must survive, and they may also have to heal the friendly mobs. Any damage that they can deal to the Greater Corruption will speed up the phase
The Greater Corruption casts three spells:
-Disheartening Laugh deals damage to the healer and the friendly NPCs, and it must simply be healed through.
-Pit of Despair is a damaging void zone that the Greater Corruption casts, which must simply be moved out of and avoided.
-Lingering Corruption is a debuff that the Greater Corruption places on the healer or on one of the NPCs, which, if not dispelled within 10 seconds, deals a high amount of Shadow damage to that player.
This phase will end after 1 minute or when the Greater Corruption has been killed
Test of Confidence (Tank)
The tank Test Realm contains a hostile mob called Titanc Corruption. The tank must survive against this mob for 60 seconds in order to become purified, and to be teleported back out to the Normal Realm.
The Titanic Corruption uses several abilities.
-Titanic Smash is a frontal cone attack that must be avoided.
-Corruption is a stacking DoT that deals a small amount of Shadow damage per stack.
-Hurl Corruption is an interruptible nuke.
-Burst of Corruption is a ground attack that deals a massive amount of damage and which must absolutely be avoided. (similar to the dps frontal cone)
-Piercing Corruption is an attack that deals a high amount of damage, and which must simply be survived through.
The Normal Realm mechanics
In the Normal Realm, your raid will have to face the Amalgam of Corruption, as well as two types of adds
The Amalgam of Corruption
The Amalgam of Corruption uses several abilities against your raid.
-Unleashed Anger is an ability that the Amalgam regularly uses to deal very high Physical damage to its tank.
-Self Doubt is a stacking tank debuff that increases the damage that the tank takes from Unleashed Anger by 40% per stack. This requires a tank switch.
-Icy Fear is a raid-wide damaging ability that the Amalgam uses every 3 seconds for the entire fight. It deals increasingly high Frost damage, as the Amalgam's health decreases. Icy Fear only damages players in the Normal Realm.
-Blind Hatred is a very dangerous ability that the Amalgam of Corruption uses every 60 seconds. For 30 seconds, a beam of corruption is channeled into the boss from the outer edge of the room. The point of origin of the beam moves along the edge of the room, causing the beam to sweep across part of the room. Any players that come in contact with the beam take a large amount of Shadow damage every second.
When the boss reaches 50% health, it gains the Frayed ability. At 50% health, and for every 10% health lost after that, the boss summons a large add called Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption. More on this, and other adds, in the following section.
Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption
The most important part of the Normal Realm is going to be dealing with the adds accordingly. Especially the Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption is really nasty and might require a 3rd tank in 25 man to deal with. All dps should allways focus on killing this add as soon as it appears. These adds can be stunned so they don't do any damage
Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption appear whenever a Manifestation of Corruption is killed in a Test of Serenity. Moreover, an Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption will appear when the Amalgam of Corruption reaches 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% health. Finally, if any players have 75 or more Corruption when the Amalgam of Corruption reaches 40% health, they too will spawn an Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption. These adds have two abilities.
-Burst of Anger is a raid-wide damaging attack that the Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption spam while they are alive. It deals moderate Shadow damage.
-Residual Corruption is a small void zone that is left behind when an Unleashed Manifestation of Corruption is killed. This void zone deals a high amount of raid-wide Shadow damage every few seconds. If a player who has 75 or less Corruption stands in it, the void zone disappears (ceasing to deal damage to the raid), but it grants the respective player 25 Corruption.
The Manifestations need to be killed as soon as possible and a player with less than 100 corruption needs to be standing ready to soak the void zone right after each add dies. All the players who have gained more than 75 corruption this way need to have done the test before the boss reaches 50% health or they will spawn an extra Manifestation.
Unleashed Essences of Corruption
Unleashed Essences of Corruption appear whenever an Essence of Corruption is killed in a Test of Serenity. These adds have a single ability.
-Expel Corruptionis a projectile attack that the adds spam at the Amalgam of Corruption. If a player is in the path of the projectile, they take a large amount of Shadow damage, and they intercept it. Otherwise, if the projectile reaches the Amalgam of Corruption, it buffs it with Fusion, increasing its damage done by 5% per stack, for 15 seconds.
It is important to note that thanks to Foul Link , any damage done to these two types of adds in the Normal Realm is also copied to the Amalgam of Corruption. In the case of the Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption, this only applies to those mobs that entered the Normal Realm as a result of having been killed in the DPS players' tests, and not to those caused by Frayed.
Tactics
here is a short overview of all the mechanics that need to be dealt with in the Normal Realm
-Perform a regular tank switch on the Amalgam of Corruption to negate the effects of the Self Doubt debuff.
-Make sure everyone moves away from the beam of corruption created by Blind Hatred.
-Make sure that all the projectiles shot by Unleashed Essences of Corruption towards the Amalgam of Corruption are being intercepted by raid members.
-Kill the Unleashed Essences of Corruption and the Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption as soon as they appear.
-Have the Residual Corruption void zones left behind by Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption soaked by their designated soakers.
-When the Amalgam of Corruption reaches 50% health, be prepared to initiate a DPS burn phase (while still killing all the adds that appear), and be prepared to handle the increased raid damage taken.
At the start of the fight 1 tank needs to click an orb to start their test and get rid of his corruption level. Next to a tank you will want to send three dps to start their test as well, these dps will focus on killing the boss when they are done. Note that these three dps will spawn three Unleashed Manifastations of Corruption during their tests and when they appear in the Normal Realm need to be damaged as soon as possible. Timing the deaths of these three manifastations is going to be important since each add alone does significant raid damage on it's own.
The dps which have their corruption level removed should never soak the void zones left behind by the Manifestations because their role is to damage the boss, they can however soak the bolts cast by the smaller adds to prevent boss damage.
Before the boss reaches 50% health you will want to have pured as many dps as possible, clicking the orbs as soon as they appear is really important. You should also be ready to deal with the Unleashed Manifestations of Corruption that will spawn as a result of player having more than 75 energy. This also means that once your raid reaches the point of 50% boss health, you don't want players with 75+ corruption to soak any void zones.
At 50% boss health, the most dificult part of the fight starts. You need to have a proper soak rotation for the void zones and you will want to have all dps focusing on the adds and the boss, rather than doing another test. This also means that all dps needs to be purified before this phase starts.
